Jennifer Claytor

Jennifer started dancing at the age of three at Bluefield Dance Theatre under the instruction of Randy and Nancy Lamb. There she was enrolled in tap, jazz, ballet, and eventually worked her way up to pointe.  She stayed with Bluefield until 7th grade when she attended Blacksburg Dance Acadamy for a year under the intrustion of Leann Glass, now owner of Protege Dance Competition also a former teacher of hers at Bluefield Dance Theater. Jennifer then continued her dance career with Corky Lucas where she was asked to perform in several shows in the Blacksburg area and also competed at several Star Systems competitions including "River Dance" which made its way to Nationals. She stayed with Corky until her Junior year and then reenrolled with Bluefield during the summer before her senior year. During her senior year she took classes with Carol Crawford at The Dance Centre in Blacksburg.

 

Jennifer majored in Fashion Merchandising at the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Radford University while enrolling in several ballet and modern courses. After graduation, Jennifer explored several different corporate career paths including Showroom consultant at Ferguson Enterprises in Blacksurg; Assistant Manager at White House Black Market in Naples, F;, Substitue teacher in the Giles County School System; Supervisor at Rite Aid; Senior Teller at National Bank of Blacksburg; and Deputy Treasurer at the Giles County Treasurers Office; She also worked as a dance instructor in the Giles County area for four years leading them to win several titles and awards at dance competitions.

 

Atfer attending a Dance Rogue intensive in Bluefield Dance Theatre her passion for dance really took off. "It really made me mentally stronger and changed my way of thinking about dance and drove a higher passion for modern, and contemporary choreography." In the Spring of 2014 she refocused her passions for dance and business and decided to take all the knowlede she learned during her various career paths and announced she would be starting her very own dance studio, Dance Motion, in Pearisburg,VA. To prepare, Jennifer attended the Dance Teacher Summit in NYC and was surrounded with a wealth of information to help her new studio succeed.

 

"I have a true passion for dance and it has always been an outlet for me emotionally and physically. I feel responsible to provide and instill that passion into the younger generation." In her own words, dance has taught Jennifer "No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and never give up."
